Why Did She Eat the Forbidden Fruit?

There is a question that many ask regarding the fall of man. A question I am sure many of us probably wouldn't mind asking Eve as soon as we meet in Heaven one day. Why did you eat the Apple?

Looking at the structure of Genesis 3 (after God's creations of Earth and its inhabitants, including man).... the serpent initiates a conversation with the woman, Eve. He brings attention to the Tree of Knowledge of good and evil. It doesn't appear Eve was even paying attention to the tree until he dangles it before her eyes.

Eve was deceived. However, when he tempted her, her 1st response was the Word of God (like Jesus later in Gethsemane). This demonstrates her knowledge. Though she wasn't yet created when God gave the order to refrain from eating of this tree, she knew the Word. But unlike Jesus, she had no way to strengthen & prepare for the moment of temptation. Jesus fasted before His moment, He was also filled with the Holy Spirit which enabled Him to rebuke Satan regardless of His weakness (hunger).

I think God already knew they would eat the fruit. The enemy can't do anything without God's permission. We saw that in Job. So why did the serpent have access to her? When God spoke to Adam about the tree, Eve was not yet created but we know she had to have been informed somehow due to the way she initially responded. Furthermore, God never said "if you eat of it" he says "when" or "in the day of" (depending on the translation). He speaks as if He already knew it would happen.

Everything in the Bible points to one focal point... Jesus. OT points to His coming, NT points to His return. We also know that "all" things work together. John tells us that in the beginning was the Word, the word was with God, the word was God... then the word becomes flesh. Hmmm.... Jesus is the only missing deity (we don't see) in Genesis.

So let's wrap all of this back around. The parallels between Eve's encounter in the OT & Jesus' encounter in the NT leaves me to the conclusion that Eve ate the apple to prepare the coming of Christ & show our necessity for Him without even knowing it.

Before, sin, there was no need for God in the flesh. As a result of sin, Jesus, who is also God in the flesh, needed to come to bring redemption, restoration, teaching of the Word, and a pouring out of the Holy Spirit.
So why did Eve eat the apple? All we know, according to scripture is that she wanted to be like God (pride) and she looked at it and saw its beauty regardless of the danger God said it would cause. Overall, her actions paved the way for Jesus Christ. We now have hope in him that we might get back to that perfect life that God intended for us in the very beginning of time.
